Heads up on some new venues in the Omaha metro which are under construction.
Au Courant will be in the Benson District. It will be a farm to table regional kitchen. I had the chance to try some dishes at their pop up and they were very good. I look forward to visiting the space.
[Now Open] The duo that owns The Diner (which has lines out the door on the weekends) are extending their hours with a food truck style patio, Java Daddies, that will be open until 10 pm. It will serve wine and beer along with small plates. The owner told me the menu will change daily but there will be 3 savory choices and 3 sweet choices. Guests can grab-and-go or sit and relax.
A Tiki Lounge is coming to the basement level at 12th & Jackson. It is from the same group that brought us Berry & Rye as well as Wicked Rabbit. It will be located under Wheatfield’s.
The co-owner of M’s Pub is opening a new venue in Aksarben called Herbe Sainte. It is inspired by New Orleans with craft cocktails and small plates. Read the OWH article here.
You can see in a past review that our top gastropub pick in the Omaha metro is Benson Brewery. The brewmaster Jimmy Vollmer creates unique and top quality craft beer. The kitchen creates more than just bar food but top quality unique tastes for the solid menu.
I have had a lot of pizza in this great country from a NYC slice to the Chicago deep dish. When I came to Omaha I wanted to find the best pie and there are a couple options.
I definitely recommend Noli’s as the best in the city. Actually, it is better than most places in New York City. They filter the water even more to be the same as NYC. They bake the pie in a brick oven. The menu creations are excellent or you can create your own.
Next I highly recommend Via Farina by Chef Paul Kulik in the upcoming ‘Little Italy’ area near Old Market. Top quality pizza, amazing pasta with Italian inspired cocktails plus a solid wine selection.
I would place Pitch Coal-fire Pizzeria as next on the list.
