New and Noteworthy

We are lucky to have an epic restaurant scene here in Omaha. These are some of my current favorites.

paragon omahaParagon has a great Dundee neighborhood vibe with an industrial modern decor. The food is very good and the bar staff is knowledgeable. It isn’t a large space so I suggest making a reservation or arriving early.

coneflower cremery omahaConeflower Creamery is the new sweets venue in the Blackstone District. The flavor menu is realistic and everything sounds great. I suggest trying an ice cream sandwich.

Omaha Upcoming

Heads up on some new venues in the Omaha metro which are under construction.

Au Courant will be in the Benson District. It will be a farm to table regional kitchen. I had the chance to try some dishes at their pop up and they were very good. I look forward to visiting the space.

java daddies omaha[Now Open] The duo that owns The Diner (which has lines out the door on the weekends) are extending their hours with a food truck style patio, Java Daddies, that will be open until 10 pm. It will serve wine and beer along with small plates. The owner told me the menu will change daily but there will be 3 savory choices and 3 sweet choices. Guests can grab-and-go or sit and relax.

omaha tiki lounge coming soonA Tiki Lounge is coming to the basement level at 12th & Jackson. It is from the same group that brought us Berry & Rye as well as Wicked Rabbit. It will be located under Wheatfield’s.

herbe sainte omaha signThe co-owner of M’s Pub is opening a new venue in Aksarben called Herbe Sainte. It is inspired by New Orleans with craft cocktails and small plates. Read the OWH article here.

Blackstone Social {@BlackstoneSoc}, will be a new craft cocktail addition to the popular Blackstone District. It promises a better environment and a great time. Read the OWH article here.

Omaha Pizza

I have had a lot of pizza in this great country from a NYC slice to the Chicago deep dish. When I came to Omaha I wanted to find the best pie and there are a couple options.

noli's pizza omaha
Noli’s Pizza in Blackstone District

I definitely recommend Noli’s as the best in the city. Actually, it is better than most places in New York City. They filter the water even more to be the same as NYC. They bake the pie in a brick oven. The menu creations are excellent or you can create your own.

Next I highly recommend Via Farina by Chef Paul Kulik in the upcoming ‘Little Italy’ area near Old Market. Top quality pizza, amazing pasta with Italian inspired cocktails plus a solid wine selection.

I would place Pitch Coal-fire Pizzeria as next on the list.

Omaha Snacks

Sometimes I’m out and just want a snack. These are some of the top flavor finds so far.

The Beet Chips at Wilson & Washburn are a unique salty snack. Don’t be scared by the beet. These are worth it.

The Scotch Egg at Wilson is also a good choice. A tasty snack or start to a meal.

I think the Pretzel Bites at Grane in Midtown are very good. There are a lot in town but I like these the best.

You have to try Duck Duck Goose Fries at Block 16. Duck Confit on top of crispy fried goodness.

I had a Maple Butter Bacon Cinnamon Roll at Farnham House Brewery that was really good.

If you are in the mood for some guac and chips I highly recommend the guacamole at Mula in the Blackstone District. My favorite version of the day is the Parilla.

I will also add Samosas from Himalayas in the Old Market. A tasty small flavor bomb.

Late Night? Everyone needs to try the Rounders from the Locomotive Food Truck in Old Market. My top picks are Pork Carnitas and Herb Egg.
